"Access HGK" is a student-initiated association which promotes equal opportunities and basic rights for all people in the university context. This association is working on a bridge offer which aims to provide access to HGK for prospective students with refugee experience.
Access HGK is a pilot project which will start a three-year pilot phase in the fall semester of 2023. With the bridge offer, the Access HGK association offers on the one hand the possibility of a trial semester, and on the other hand it provides support for the admission procedure of regular study programs. These two offers are embedded in a comprehensive support offer. Thus, Access HGK can facilitate the access to the Basel Academy of Art and Design HGK for prospective students.
Are you interested in taking advantage of one of Access HGK's offers? Then contact us for a non-binding initial consultation. Here we can see together what suits you best. We look forward to hearing from you!
The project is aimed at refugees with residence status N/ F/ S/ B/ C in the region of Basel-Stadt, Basel-Land, Aargau, Solothurn, who have already studied in a creative field or are interested in doing so. If you are not sure if this applies to you, feel free to contact us and we can discuss it together.
In a trial study, prospective students can get a taste of their chosen course of study. They can actively sit in on and participate in selected courses. Getting to know the university and the selected course of study during this trial study helps to get a first orientation at the HGK.
Direct registration for the study program
Prospective students who want to register for a study program after a trial semester or directly will receive support from the association Access HGK in various areas related to the study program, be it in administrative, linguistic or financial form. Together we look at what prospective students need for their start in their studies at the HGK and where the support offer can begin.
Together with the Fachschaft HGK (also a student association, which functions as a representation of the students’ interests) we are working on a possibility for all participants of the Access HGK project to attend German classes at their language level.
In our framework program we would like to organize bonding moments. These can be excursions to exhibitions, concerts or readings or a common exchange over cooking and eating. We have many ideas for joint activities and look forward to developing and creating these networking moments together.
Our association is composed of people without refugee experience who have the privilege to study at HGK. With its concerns, the association sees itself as part of a movement that is committed to transformative justice in the university context.
